Hello & thank you for dropping in - please, pull up a chair and let me tell you about this great little (well, in their case not-so-little) gift shop that I happened upon.
This magical gift boutique is located in Mansfield, Ohio. It's owned and operated by two of the most wonderful people you will ever meet, Bonnie & Les Piroska. And I must tell you from the moment you walk through the front door you'll feel as if you're family. "Mama & Papa Piroska's" heart warming smiles and pleasant conversation (never pushy & always helpful and informative) will greet you. You'll relax with the smell of apple pie candles and a breath taking array of collectibles and other special gifts. It is no surprise that their customers keep coming back year after year - in fact - I am surprised that they leave in the first place ! (wonder if they have a spare room in the attic ?!)
In early spring of 1992, Bonnie's love of collectibles bloomed into her own little shop featuring the"Boyds Collection". It wasn't long before her loyal customers were demanding more - and just like the care giver that she is - she gave them just what they wanted - more…. much, much more. She literally had several lines of collectibles in every nook & cranny ! Her little shop was bulging at its seams (oh, alright…. I know that buildings really don't have seams, they have corner joists, but you get the picture anyway). She happily opened an additional shop …. now she single-handedly ran 2 separate locations (what a trooper!) - and her customer base at the first shop was still continuing to grow while the second shop was rapidly proving to be just as exciting!! So, as you might suspect ….poor ole Papa Les (who, to this point, was perfectly content to work a full time job, tend to the lawn and various other "honey-do" chores) now was being shang hyed into helping out (and I have to admit he has done a pretty good job of it). Plans are underway for yet another expansion…gotta make room for Harmony Kingdom's Lord Byron & Buddies, Boyds Bears & Friends, the Charming Tails Gang, Russ Berrie's Crew, Harbour Lights and Lefton Lighthouses, several other collectible lines, and an absolute paradise of all occasion gifts (this time plans are to combine all locations into one …. And Papa Les just keeps on smiling 'cause he knows what's gonna happen now … that's right … she's rounding up the kids !).
I, for one, do not want to miss the action at Piroska's Gift Shop, not just because it’s a riot to watch this spunky little couple out growing their own dreams, but because I too am hooked on collectibles !! See you there !!
